How come ExtraFax cannot detect my modem?

ExtraFax is designed to detect fax modem automatically. If it cannot detect your modem, at least there is some log messages that said why. These messages would include :

• Port access denied which means the port is used by some other programs like RAS or Notes itself. Unfortunately, there is no easy way to share COM port.
• Modem detected but with no fax capability which means the modem does not return the proper string when query for fax capability.

If ExtraFax cannot detect your fax modem, you can still do it yourself by adding a Port document yourself. But cases like this are really rare.
