Does ExtraFax need to run on a Domino server ?

We made it a server addin for the sole purpose of allowing remote administration. It can be run standalone on a Notes workstation (there are some additional configuration procedures which need to be implemented) but there is the following disadvantages :
1. remote administration impossible(bring up/shutdown)
2. Since there is a network connection involved (post office file still on server), anything which goes wrong in the middle (the equivalent of 'server not responding' error) requires manual restart and the problem is no one may even notice the problem.
However, a Domino server is still required for hosting the ExtraFax database (extrafax.nsf).
